the don't wanna do it spectrum
there's a spectrum made up of all the things you don't wanna do.
on one end are the things you're opposed to as a matter of morality, taste, priority, or risk.
on the other end are the things you recoil from out of fear. not fear of violating your morals, betraying your taste, disrupting your priorities, or taking undue risk. fear of taking action. of putting yourself on the hook. of stepping into the arena.
the hard part is that fear rarely shows up as fear. it dresses up as taste, or priority, or prudent risk. so the real work is building the self-awareness to see through the costume.
when you don't want to do something, find where it sits on the spectrum, then bias your actions toward what you fear.
you can forgive yourself for avoiding the other end, as long as you trust yourself to know the difference between avoidance that comes from fear and avoidance that comes from self-awareness.
